Michael Cohan
OVERVIEW
Michael Cohan is an associate in the firm’s Products Liability and Asbestos Departments, based in our New York City office. Mr. Cohan is responsible for case development and investigation; he manages all aspects of pre-trial litigation including pleadings, discovery, motion practice and pre-trial preparation. He believes a profound understanding of both the legal issues involved in his cases and the difficulties that his clients and their families have endured are equally important to representing injured plaintiffs.
Mr. Cohan earned his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law, where he served as a member of the Law Review, and received six awards from CALI (“Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction”) for excellence in education. As a law student, Mr. Cohan served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Kathleen Tomlinson, a Magistrate Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Cohan also worked in the Litigation Department at Holland & Knight’s New York office.
Mr. Cohan dedicates his time outside of work to helping under-privileged youth in New York’s urban areas with college admissions guidance and SAT tutoring. In so doing, he has motivated many students to obtain a college education and has provided them with the necessary tools to succeed after high school. A strong advocate for education, he believes that all children deserve an opportunity to pursue their dreams.
