Hydroxycut
Plaintiffs' Personal Injury Law Firm
More than 9 million people had already used Hydroxycut's highly hyped weight loss products before they were removed from the market. Hydroxycut promotes their over the counter supplements for people who want to lose weight and get toned and use tan, muscular body builder type models to hook the viewers of their ads.
But it has been determined that Hydroxycut has been known to cause liver damage and liver failure in people who were not predisposed to these diseases. Many victims have even had to undergo liver transplants just to live. Other reports claim the use of Hydroxycut caused jaundice, seizures and cardiovascular problems.
The Hydroxycut recall was issued on May 1, 2009. While the FDA had reports of 23 serious cases of liver problems from using Hydroxycut, this only represents a fraction of the problems as this was an over the counter product and side effects could occur even after people stopped taking the supplement.
Canada and Europe have a much more comprehensive way of regulating their pharmaceuticals. Even when FDA approved drugs begin to develop problems, they are removed from the shelves in Canada and Europe long before here in the United States.
An excerpt published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology states that The FDA does not require US manufacturers of dietary supplements to conduct trials to prove the safety of their product before they market it. All they have to do is provide a list of ingredients to the FDA and it is up to them to prove that they are unsafe.
There are many attorneys at law firms across the country that have put in the time and effort to familiarize themselves with the nuances of the Hydroxycut cases. Because users of the product are not dealing with an FDA approved drug but rather an over the counter product that can be sold to anyone who wants it regardless of their current health issues, the process is unique. In order to see any type of compensation due to side effects as a direct result of using Hydroxycut products you need to consult with a Hydroxycut lawyer.
If you, someone in your family or anyone you know have used any of the Hydroxycut products and suffered from liver disease or liver failure as a result, please contact the attorneys here at Napoli Bern Ripka Law Firm.
