FDA Issues Advisory For Antipsychotics, Including Seroquel
April 30, 2005The FDA is warning patients, medical professionals and caregivers of the unapproved off-label use of atypical anti psychotics in treating dementia in elderly patients. These drugs are not approved for this use, and studies have shown that elderly patients with dementia being treated with these drugs have a death rate between 1.5 and 2 times higher than those being treated with placebo.
