Guidant Defibrillator Lawsuit Trial Delayed
April 12, 2006Scheduled to start this week, the first Guidant defibrillator lawsuit trial was delayed due to problems scheduling a witness. The Texas trial is expected to now start in July, according to Judge Jack Hunter.
Guidant is charged with concealing flaws in its implantable heart defibrillators. Two defibrillator patients, Louis Motal, 63, and Bernice Hinojosa, 65, charge Guidant with causing them pain and suffering for not promptly disclosing operating problems in some of its implantable devices that restore regular beating to a weakened heart.
This is the first of 200 cases scheduled to go to trial against Guidant for problems with their faulty defirillators and pacemakers.
